The unique geological nature of these lands generate a variety of climates on a relatively small area. Adventurers might encounter harsh cold, crippling heat and humid wetlands when venturing in only a matter of days. Proper preparations must be taken to traverse these lands.
City of Stormrise
An impressive fortification on top of the cliffs, overlooking vast fields to the west and dense forests to the north. A bustling port with ships coming in from Baldurs Gate, Waterdeep, even Luskan and Neverwinter. The city houses tall housing but sprawls out over the cliffs towards the older lower parts near the harbor. More villages are located along the river and forest upstream.
Mild climate, but can be windy
Stormrise is entirely self sufficiant due to the abbundace of fish in the gentle sea surrounding the kingdom while the sprawling fields generate plenty of wheat. So much so that Stormrise exports most of it's produce. The city is therefore populated by all types of merchants from across Faerun. It does attract some unwanted visitors from time to time, but the royal guard makes short work of them.
City of Moonbrook
A romantic castle on top of a rock formation overlooks the valley beneath housing allmost all of the kingdom's residents. A lush glade to the northwest connects to Stormrise.
Wetlands and marshes to the East
A gentle sea in the south
An old and small kingdom living from the riches of the glade and wetlands lies safely in the shadow of Stormrise. All the water from the mountais gathers in the valley and flatlands forming brooks and swamps near eastern perimiters. Moonbrook stays connected to Stormrise due to it's reasonable port, even if the wettest seasons prevent the journey over land.
Dehur Odror
The Orc Raiders build their main settlement on an old Dwarven mine. The old forge still generates enough heat for the the Orcs to continue to live on the mountains, for now...
North side covered in snow
Rivers form on the south slopes (forge heat) resulting in wetlands
A difficult terrain to navigate. There are but two entrances into these mountains from the south side making in nearly impossible to traverse safely. The heat from the old Dwarven forge makes the environment slightly more bearable on the surface, but the intense heat can exhume on the west slopes resulting into massive heatwaves on the plateaus.
If the mountain pass would fall, the only pathway between Moonbrook and Stormrise would venture north, around them. What kind of creatures and characters might wander these ancient lands...
