Jessie Titley and Jamie Nooten started Acorns of Oak as a brand by Jessie Titley Creative Arts. Under the banner of Acorns of Oak, we are building our fantasy legacy.
We are both artist who started out in 2009 and have been working profesionally ever since. Jessie is a full time illustrator and designer while Jamie works on product design, illustrations/3D and writing.
We have always been heavily into fantasy. Lord of the Rings, Dark Crystal, The Labyrinth, Neverending Story, Legend, and not to mention all of the games we've played over the years like Zelda or the Witcher. Jessie has created countless original fantasy works over the years and Jamie worked on fantasy game passion project for a long time. It's really our most passionate subject.
This all fell into place when we started our very first Dungeons and Dragons campaign with our friends. Creating the character, roleplaying in a liberating fantasy environment that let our imaginations run wild. Jamie is the type of person that goes all-in. So naturally made his own character in 3D, hyperfixated on buying a 3D printer and before you know it was playing with his own mini.
Then, the floodgates opened.
Our first major milestone were our styalised miniatures that are perfect for Dungeons and Dragons. Jessie designed the first originals back in 2019. During 2020 the first three were ready to be printed launching during our first conventions in 2021.
Miniatures were soon followed by midi's. The urge to have collectibles and figurines like Amiibo were the catalyst to create the larger sized figures.
We worked so long on a fantasy game, having all sorts of ideas for fantasy stories and characters. It left a large hole when it stranded during covid. Baldur's Gate 3 reignited the flame to actually pick it up. But making a game takes time and is near impossible on your own (with the vision we had for it). So DnD became a fantastic bite sized alternative to tell those stories and use the ideas. To DM our own story campaign in our own world with our own characters. Built step by step, modular, bitesize. That could just work.
Knightly Hearts.
The first step in (re)telling the stories we have had in our hearts for a very long time. It is a mix of new and old ideas. Some ideas go all the way back to 2010 and finally see the light of day
This story means a lot. It features various characters, written and designed by us. Locations and events in a world we created. And we can't wait to share that story with the world.
Currently we are working on designs. illustrations and other content that we'll bring to life with our products like the spellcards, sticker, button pins, prints and more.
The goal is to write part 1 of the standalone fantasy original story of Knightly Hearts and publish it as a book. Leaving room for a part 2 to wrap up the story that is currently in production. Creating a world we can use to inject with standalone characters, stories and modules later on. And dive deeper into our most treasured fantasies. Later on we'd like to bundle those stories into a handbook for you to play your own D&D adventure.
